Support and development of the educational platform on Joomla
courses, testing, and automation
About the project
This is an educational project of a psychologist, in which through the website users can get acquainted with materials, undergo psychological testing and purchase online courses.
Since 2023, we have been engaged in technical support and website development on Joomla. The work includes both regular small improvements and the development of individual functional solutions, such as a system for accessing paid courses and automatic communication with users after testing.
Task
At the time of the launch, the site needed not only technical support, but also the opportunity to gradually develop it to meet new project objectives.
In particular, it was necessary to organize the sale and issuance of access to online courses on the website, implement a psychological test with several possible results and link the test results with further email communication.
At the same time, all solutions had to be integrated into an existing Joomla website, without turning each new task into a separate technical system.
Online courses and limited access
One of the tasks was to place four online courses on the website.
For each course, the possibility of payment via the connected payment system has been set up. After successful payment, the user had to get access to the purchased material.
To do this, a restricted access mechanism was implemented: after payment, a unique link to the course was generated for the user, which was sent to the email address specified at the time of purchase.
Thus, the course was not just an open page of the website. Access to the materials was provided to the user after fulfilling the necessary condition — payment.
Psychological testing
We have separately finalized the website for conducting a psychological test.
The test consists of several dozen questions and provides about six options for the final result. After completing the search, the user was taken to a separate page with the result and could specify his email address.
The test result was also sent by email along with recommendations.
At the same time, the output of the result itself was only the first part of the script.
Automatic email chains
A separate chain of subsequent emails was set up for each of the result options.
The logic looks like this:
passing the test → determining the result → letter with the result and recommendations → corresponding chain of letters.
That is, the site did not just record the passing of the test, but used the result for further communication with the user.
This made it possible to link testing, email distribution, and further work of the educational project with the audience.
Constant support and improvements
In addition to major tasks, since 2023 we have been constantly engaged in the ongoing development of the site.
The work includes:
- revision and modification of pages;
- layout of new elements;
- working with forms;
- help with enabling and configuring counters;
- correction of errors and bugs that occur;
- minor functional improvements;
- technical support of the website.
This format allows you to gradually develop the project without having to redesign the entire site each time or involve a separate team for a small task.
Result
During its operation, the site has transformed from just an information resource into a full-fledged tool for working with the audience of an educational project.
The site implements and maintains:
- online course placement and sale;
- course fees;
- automatic granting of restricted access;
- sending unique links to email;
- psychological testing;
- determining one of several possible outcomes;
- separate output of test results;
- sending results and recommendations by email;
- different email threads depending on the test result;
- regular improvements and technical support for Joomla.
We will continue working with the project from 2023. The website is working and continues to develop along with the objectives of the educational project.
